My holidays + thoughts!

Hey!
I know I haven't blogged in what feels like a century, so I feel like this needs to be written so you know I haven't fallen off the face of the earth or something.
I went to Croatia on school music tour (I'm in the choir) and the area was freaking beautiful:
This is Rovinj, a city close to the resort we stayed at. We also sampled some of the culture:

This guy is playing us some traditional Croatian folk music while we eat a traditional Croatian folk meal.

This is a picture of a traditional Croatian wedding party. Turns out these guys know how to party.
I went to France for a fortnight with my parents. That was also pretty. I did not take any pictures. I am hopeless.

Some of my current thoughts I want to express:
  1. I am very happy with my GCSE results: An A* in French, As in English language, German, maths and additional science, and Bs in RE, tech, core science, English literature, geography and drama. Very happy indeed.
  2. Mock the Week is not on tonight. What?
  3. I love OPI Nail Lacquer sooooo much! Am currently wearing "Done Out in Deco". Such an elegant shade of lilac!
  4. My sister and I bought Silly Bandz. I shall wear them to school next Thursday. Who are you calling a dork?
  5. Am taking French, German, Maths and RE for A levels this year. We shall see how things go...
  6. My parents bought me Russell Howard tickets for doing so well in my exams. Am so excited. Shall make T-shirt with phrase "The future Mrs Howard" on it.
  7. Will not take another family holiday. 2 weeks is too long to be cooped up with loved ones. You will not believe how many Youtube videos, blog posts, XKCD cartoons, etc I had to catch up on. A camping weekend in the Forest will do me fine, thanks.
  8. I need a job. A real one. Anyone have any ideas?
  9. I want some Doc Martens for school. Preferably floral ones.
  10. I can't believe I cannot find anywhere that will show The Office season 5 from episode 13 onwards. I freaking love that show. Anyone have any idea when it will become available on DVD (in the UK)?
xoxo,

I haz new uke!

Hey! Yesterday I went into Stroud and got some cute stuff:
I love my cute new robin necklace. I got it from Stroud Vintage for £10. Apparently it's from the '70s. It goes well with my new ukulele!
I love the colour of my ukulele. It was £30 from Riffs and came in a handy gig bag, so look forward to a concert near you sometime. *jokes*
Anyways, my current ukulele set list looks something like this:
  1. 5 Years Time by Noah and the Whale - it's a really easy song to play, and I've loved it ever since I saw the band live in 2008.
  2. Kiss With a Fist by Florence and the Machine - I love just belting this tune out! Apart from the dreaded E chord (I'm not kidding-it's a bastard to play) its actually quite easy.
  3. Golden Skans by The Klaxons - this sounds brilliant on the uke. It gives new rave a fun spin which makes me possible to sing it!
  4. Bad Romance by Lady Gaga - I first heard this done on ukulele by Molly Lewis. It made me smile, so I thought I'd give it a go.
  5. Lovefool by Cardigans - relatively old, but was quite fun to play.
Thank God it's now half term! I'm having my friend Bry over tomorrow to play Guitar Hero, and on Tuesday and Friday I'm meeting up with my friend Lewis to study. At some point I want to go to Cabot, so will need to squeeze that in somewhere.
Happy Valentine's Day! xoxo

Rare occurences

Oh, What's occurrin'?
So you must be very surprised that this is my second post in two days. I guess I need a creative outlet for all the stuff going on in my life.

So the second rare occurrence today is that we got our 4th snow day in a fortnight. This was very welcome as I didn't want to sit in the library tragically for a second day in a row. It also meant that I could watch Role Models, a DVD that my friend Jess gave me for my birthday, and I got more time to study for my English exam in February, which I only found out the date for yesterday.

On another subject, look at what I've ordered off Amazon:

The pink iPod case is for my new baby :p as I've been very worried about it just swimming in the bottom of my school bag without any cushioning. I also bought the second Pokemon movie as I'm nerdy like that! I watched the first one over the holidays and I thought it was really good. At £2.98 who can argue with that price?

Music:
This is what I kind of most wanted to talk about today. I recently acquired 4 new songs that I wanted to share-
  1. Nerdfighteria Island by Hank Green is the first song I got, and is a free download from http://www.dftba.com. It is the ultimate nerdy anthem and the line "I love smoothies made of meat!" makes me crack up everytime.
  2. For Jo by RiddleTM is a really sweet song that makes me want to cry whenever I hear it. I first came across it on the podcast WZRD in the summer, and I wanted to show my sister how good it was. (Available on iTunes)
  3. Aim for the Head by Tonks and the Aurors is a fun zombie rock song about the movie Shaun of the Dead, which is absolutely hilarious. Available on iTunes, this song would be brilliant for karaoke. Also available on iTunes.
  4. Voldy Baby by The Parselmouths is a parody of the seasonal classic Santa Baby. There are some purely genius lines such as, "My floo network is open tonight!" which caused a lot of confusion amongst my friends on Facebook when I updated it as my status.

New year's resolutions:

Giant squid of raaaaaaage!

Hey!
My life is really sucky right now. One of my best friends turned round and decided to do something really low before Christmas break which not only ruined the holidays for me, but spoilt my plans for my 16th birthday :(

School really sucked today. I didn't hang out with anyone, instead did a Rory Gilmore and spent my time reading in the library and doing german homework. I only explained what was going on to my mum yesterday, and when I told her I spent lunchtime alone she cried for me, which I really appreciated. <3
The snow days we had last week were very pleasing; on Thursday I got to work which means I earnt some money for the Yo! Sushi sale (yay!) it was good to have some extra time off school and Saturday was really fun as I went to Stinchcombe Hill golf course with a friend which was so covered in snow it looked like a ski centre. Awesome!!!
Fashion Section:
I got loooads of new clothes recently, including -

To do in 2010:
Drop a dress size - ate 3 Kit-Kat's yesterday. Woops!
Find friends that stick - Current friend count: 0
Get good grades - am studying hard!
Become popular on Youtube - 2 subscribers. Damn.
Managing anger + stress - walked away from confrontation. Improvement!
Get an american friend - Check! She's really awesome and from Texas!
Learn new language/culture - managed to translate dutch earlier. I don't even speak dutch!
Do 10k steps at least once a week - keep for getting to wear pedometer :P
Go out - Have no friends to go out with :(
Cya!!! xoxo
